Adult Basic Education
Adults can review, learn, or improve basic academic skills for employment or educational purposes. Courses are offered in reading, writing, math and computer skills including keyboarding and word processing. Instruction can be a combination of individualized, computer-based, or structured classes, all of which are offered days and evenings. Classes are free of charge; however, registration is required.
Apprenticeships
Apprenticeship is training that combines structured on-the-job training with related instruction and is sponsored by employers, employer associations or labor/management groups that have the ability to hire and train in a working environment.
Computer Classes
Keyboarding and basic computer skills classes are offered to students participating in the adult education programs. These classes are designed for the adult to become familiar and comfortable with working on a computer.
English As A Second Language
Adults will learn to speak, read and write in English. Basic employment skills, math, keyboarding, and citizenship instruction is offered. Students learn English in traditional classroom settings and in a computer lab. Classes are free of charge; however, registration is required.
GED/HSED
Adults can complete a high school credential by earning a GED or HSED. Instruction can be a combination of individualized, computer-based, or structured classes, all of which are offered days and evenings. Classes are free of charge; however, registration is required. Testing fees apply.
High School Completion Programs
Courses are available to complete the requirements for a high school diploma through this supervised, independent study program. This program is done with the approval/coordination of the student's current or former high school. Registration is required. Fees apply.
Occupational Skills Training
Individuals who need training to acquire new skills or upgrade their current skills may be eligible for financial assistance. Training must be in a high demand occupation and provided by an approved educational institution. Funding is provided through the Workforce Investment Act.
Trade Adjustment Assistance
Certified workers who lose their jobs as a result of increased imports or shifts in production out of the United States may be eligible to receive one or more program benefits and services depending on what is needed to return them to employment. Services include reemployment assistance, job search and relocation allowances and training benefits.
